WHY CULTIVATE BODY-MIND-SPIRIT WELLNESS?

Studies prove that meditation reduces stress while improving heart health and brain function related to memory and learning. Meditation has been linked to longevity in chromosomes, suggesting that meditators (by medical findings) are younger than their biological age. The regular practice offers an overall sense of peace and well-being. While these are a few of the primary benefits, meditation offers an impressive list of health benefits.

Article: Meditation Stronger than Drugs for Pain Relief
Meditation can have pain-relieving effects greater than morphine, claims a new study. Researchers found that just one hour of meditation training can reduce immediate pain by nearly half and have a long-lasting effect. "This is the first study to show only a little over an hour of meditation training can dramatically reduce both the experience of pain and pain-related brain activation," said Dr. Fadel Zeidan, lead author at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, North Carolina. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/health/news/8430609/.html

"Neuroscientists have found that meditators shift their brain activity to different areas of the cortex—brain waves in the stress-prone right frontal cortex move to the calmer left frontal cortex. In other words, they were calmer and happier than before." ~ Colin Allen

Article:  Meditation not only reduces stress, here’s how it changes your brain.
"It does seem to be beneficial for most people. The most important thing, if you’re going to try it, is to find a good teacher. Because it’s simple, but it’s also complex. You have to understand what’s going on in your mind. A good teacher is priceless." --Sara Lazar, a neuroscientist at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School
